Don’t forget it’s Daylight Savings! On Sunday morning, we will all turn our clocks one hour ahead. So what, we lose an hour of sleep on ONE night. We’ve just gained one hour of daylight – everyday, for the next eight months! In my neighborhood, this is a very welcomed time. “Be home by dark” means the kids can play outside longer. It is a reason to spend more time outdoors.
Enjoying the outdoors has easy since we furnished our outdoor living space with The Sillage collection. This outdoor furniture collection is made from the highest quality teak from Indonesian plantations and fabrics that are weather resistant materials. The collection includes a wide variety of pieces and sets to accommodate intimate gatherings or large outdoor functions.
Getting the kids to go outdoors was fairly simple. We have an outdoor bar with an extension table set in the corner of the patio that has plenty of storage. We stock it with bottled waters, snacks, first aid kit, wine, mixers – the essentials. It’s our home base. And as soon as the homework is finished, we release them into the wild. It’s great – for them and me LOL!
My neighborhood friends are temporarily off duty at this time, too. You know all the parents want to get together and wine down. Depending on the night’s RSVP list, I have two outdoor living areas I can set up for company. If it’s just the ladies, we usually end up on the chaise lounge chairs on the opposite side of the pool. We wheel the wicker serving cart on over and toast to another successful day of parental survival.
If there are more than six people, we can sit at the outdoor extension table. It’s a large enough to accommodate up to twelve people! Perfect for after work on Friday nights with the neighborhood couples. Everyone brings something, we turn on the tunes and tell our week’s worth of stories. And because the solar lighting we have in back just got an extra hour of daylight, they continue to shine well into the evening. We always know when it’s time to wrap up the party – either the solar lighting fades out or one of the kids passes out. Whichever comes first.
