A Perfect St. Patrick’s Day Outdoor Party on the Green

Mojitos for St. Patrick's Day Outdoor Party

I don’t know about you but I am past the age for the St. Patty’s green beer bar scene. You’re older and wiser but that doesn’t mean you can’t fully embrace the festivities. Instead of celebrating by bar hopping, I decided to throw a kid-friendly outdoor party so everyone in the family can enjoy. All you need is enough outdoor space for a festive St. Patrick’s day party. Fortunately, our friends are always up for an outdoor party so it was easy to get everyone together and party on the green.

Kid-Friendly St. Patrick’s Day Outdoor Party

It was an outdoor gathering so the kids could run around. The backdrop was perfectly green from mother nature, so it didn’t take much for the outdoor decor to match. I hung string lights so when you walked out to the patio, you’re greeted by an awning of green and white. I also placed Clover cut out, white paper bags with tea lights around the pool. It took a little adjusting but I positioned the water spray near the outdoor lights just right to create a rainbow mist! To top it off, I added gold mylar shreds to the outdoor planters so it looked like a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow.

The food was set out on our outdoor dining table. We cooked all the Irish favorites like corned beef and cabbage, Shepherd’s Pie and Shamrock Salad. Everyone contributed to the outdoor festivities by bringing dessert or drinks. The specialty drinks at the patio bar consisted of kid-friendly Patty’s Punch, which is made with green sherbet, pineapple juice and ginger ale. And for the adults, what’s St. Patrick’s Day without Guiness beer, Mojitos, Irish whiskey and lime green Jello shots?

Too bad it was a weekday because we could have partied all night. Everyone had to work or to go school the next day, so we closed out the evening with coffee and desserts, and by snuggling around our comfy outdoor seating set. The kids still haven’t stopped talking about the green lucky cupcakes topped with yummy frosting and Lucky Charms. We look forward to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with them every year. Good friends, good times – we are so lucky!
